Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant based in Cypress, Texas. This role is crucial in our manufacturing sector where you will lead and streamline the cost accounting stream, driving change across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Review and confirm the accuracy of accounting transactions including job cost entries, accounts payable, and inventory.

• Oversee the month-end and year-end close process for cost accounting streams, including the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.

• Develop, execute, and recommend improvements to cost accounting policies and procedures across all facilities.

• Coordinate with operations for period-end cut-off and inventory adjustments.

• Lead inventory cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy, analyze and investigate any significant inventory variances.

• Analyze job costs to determine their impact on margins, report profitability issues to management, and make recommendations for improving profitability.

• Conduct periodic review of absorption rates and update allocation rates for indirect and overhead costs.

• Mentor operations and administrative staff on process and internal controls, providing guidance, oversight, and training to foster continuous improvement.

• Drive process improvements to optimize workflows and resource utilization.

• Collaborate with General Manager/Controller to support business objectives and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment

• Proficiency in Manufacturing Cost Accounting

• Strong understanding of cost accounting concepts and practices

• Demonstrated experience with cost analysis, inventory analysis, and variance analysis
