It rolled out globally across Latin America and the Caribbean in 2021, followed by its first European launches in the Nordics and Spain later that year. In May 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery introduced Max, an enhanced streaming platform, in the U.S. HBO Max is currently available in 46 countries and there are plans for the continued global expansion of Max in 2024.

About Discovery & Engagement...

The Discovery & Engagement team is a horizontal practice area within the larger Experience Design (XD) team for Max. Our mission is to ensure that every flow, feature, and component is not only well-designed, but also aligns with our merchandising and personalization strategies, brand and marketing objectives, and most importantly, our customers' needs and desires. When done right, discovery leads to deeper engagement, and deeper engagement fuels further discovery. This experience loop is woven throughout the entire customer journey, encompassing key touchpoints from the App Store to binge-watching, and everything in between. We are end-to-end designers who believe that function and form are inextricably linked.

Your New Role...

As a senior product designer within the Discovery & Engagement team, you will work on the core Max experience across all regions and devices, including web, mobile, and connected TV devices. You will design experiences that enhance user engagement on our platform and facilitate seamless and meaningful content and product discovery. You will work collaboratively across a range of partners inside and outside the Experience Design team to create product experiences that advance business goals and enhance the aesthetics and usability of the Max product experience. Your deliverables will include UX and UI concepts for research and experimentation, innovative ideas communicated through various artifacts such as qualitative stimuli, wireframes, mockups, videos, high-fidelity prototypes, novel promotional asset concepts, compelling business storytelling, and comprehensive documentation and design playbooks.

Your Role Accountabilities...

You are a talented, strategically minded visual designer with foundational UX and UI design skills. You are passionate about designing new experiences for Max and understanding the habits of streaming customers. As a natural collaborator, you love connecting dots and bringing people together from different disciplines to solve shared problems. You are self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized, with a keen attention to detail. You thrive in ambiguity, comfortably distilling complex business and user needs into actionable strategies and outcomes.

  • Define and articulate a compelling visual language that enhances and elevates the Max experience.

  • Craft and standardize editorial design solutions for a global audience, encapsulating comprehensive design standards, meticulous documentation, and versatile templates.

  • Ability to cultivate and craft beautiful, visionary product concepts grounded in user needs.

  • Create, iterate, and support the testing of new and engaging UX designs.

  • Develop comprehensive documentation and robust tools to streamline design communication across our global design network.

  • Attention to detail and a passion for upholding an exceptional quality bar.

  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional partners, including UX designers, development teams, researchers, writers, product managers, brand, and marketing partners.

  • Strong understanding of design systems and user-centered design principles.

  • Experience creating engaging product experiences while remaining unafraid to validate your hypotheses through research, testing, and experimentation.

  • A willingness and desire to get feedback on your work from various partners, stakeholders, and customers.

  • Belief that user-centric design isn't just a practice; it's a cause to be advocated as we pursue the best experiences for our customers.

  • Ability to context switch and manage time in a fast-paced environment where evolving requirements and dynamics are the norm.

  • Contribute to a culture that is as supportive as it is innovative, making significant contributions to the unforgettable experiences Max delivers.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a product designer with an established design agency or product design organization.

  • A BA/BS degree in UX Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, graphic design, or a related discipline is desired but not required.

  • A compelling portfolio that showcases your skills in visual design as well as your strategic approach to complex product challenges.

  • A passion for emergent technologies and their intersection with the evolution of design (e.g. the impact of AI on design, scalability, and communication).

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing design frameworks, playbooks, and standards.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Top-notch time-management skills, with an affinity for rapid context switching.

  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software, including Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.

  • A positive outlook, infinite curiosity, self-motivated spirit, and boundless energy.

  • A genuine enthusiasm for movies, series, sports, and news, as well as a desire to stay on top of industry trends.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $95,550.00 - $177,450.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
