Job Summary and Qualifications

Administer medically prescribed programs and treatments to detect, assess, prevent, correct, and alleviate physical disability and pain from injury, disease, disorders or physical deformities. The department will meet age specific needs of neonatal (0-4 wks.), infant (1 mo.-12 mos.), child (1 yr.-12 yrs.), adolescent (13 yrs.-18 yrs.), adult (18 yrs.-64 yrs.), and geriatric (greater than 64 yrs.) population.

  1. Evaluates patient and develops appropriate and effective treatment program in accordance with patient’s status, medical referral and therapy evaluation results while maintaining confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient’s rights are protected.

  2. Demonstrates understanding of rationale and application of therapeutic techniques, proper body mechanics, safe and efficient patient handling skills and proper equipment usage.

  3. Participates in clinic maintenance prevention procedures.

  4. Works as a part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team with other hospital departments and physicians in order to provide comprehensive quality care to patients.

  5. Reports to Manager patient-care management problems, equipment needs and maintenance requirements. Cosigns all students’ notes. Coordinates patient’s treatment with other health care professionals where appropriate.

  6. Plans individual patient schedule and maintains daily attendance record, daily progress notes, evaluation, home program and discharge summaries. Charges for patient treatment on a daily basis in approved manner.

  7. Demonstrates compliance with department and hospital Policies & Procedures while displaying cooperative and constructive attitude in intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.

  8. Actively engages in learning and continuing education for self-improvement and professional growth. Attends and participates in staff meetings/inservices. Participates in interdisciplinary conferences and report with/to disciplines on patient’s progress and discharge planning.

  9. Actively assists in revising, developing department Policies and Procedures and development of Performance Improvement indicators.

  10. Actively participates in the hospital and department’s Quality and Performance Improvement programs.

  11. Works weekends and holidays as needed.

  12. Complies with the hospital’s behavioral expectations.

  13. Supports and participates in the hospital’s Patient Engagement and Satisfaction initiatives.

  14. Shares and promotes the hospital’s Mission, Vision and Values.

  15. Supports the Ethics and Compliance Program.

What qualifications you will need:

Experience:

  • One or more years as a licensed physical therapist preferred.

  • New graduate will be considered.

  • Must be able to work weekends as this is a primary need for weekend coverage; some weekdays may be available

Education:

  • Graduate of APTA approved school of Physical Therapy with a minimum Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Texas
