Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs Engineering Technician in Coolidge, Arizona

Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, San Carlos Irrigation Project in Coolidge, Arizona. The incumbent will plan, design, estimate, manage and provide accounting for assigned construction projects through sound and accurate engineering/designing, staking, and preparation of detailed job sketches/drawings and details in accordance with San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP) standards. There are (3) positions available. Responsibilities Obtain required archeology/environment (arch) clearances and right of way (ROW) easements and permits, ensuring compliance and that resources including labor are expended in a manner that best benefits SCIP and Its customers. Oversee project management to ensure projects are kept on track, maximizing cost savings and efficiency of SCIP resources, as well as ensuring conflicts that may arise are resolved quickly and efficiently. Ensure information is communicated promptly, accurately, and concisely, and in accordance with the SCIP Operations Manual, as well as all applicable policies, procedures and regulations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications The vacancy for these (3) positions is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants who meet the following experience requirement may qualify for this GS-11 level position- 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level obtained either through Federal or non-Federal employment performing electrical engineering technician work, including preparing plans and drawings under the direction of a senior designer or engineer, gathering information, working on cost estimates and project pieces. Typically, this requires at least 3 years progressive work experience. Previous experience working with electric utility systems is preferred. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Education There is no specific education requirement and there is no educational substitute for the experience requirement of the position.
