Burgess & Niple, Inc. Environmental Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

B&N is seeking a civil/environmental/water resources or biological engineer/professional with experience in wetlands, streams, and water resources. Projects may include stream restoration, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, wetland mitigation design, floodplain studies, and living shoreline and coastal resiliency design.

B&N Environmental Engineer Responsibilities

  • Stream and wetland restoration design, project/construction drawings using CAD software
  • Stream and wetland assessment, monitoring, and construction oversight in the field
  • Hydrologic watershed analysis with HEC-HMS and/or TR-55
  • Hydraulic analysis of open and closed drainage systems using HEC-RAS
  • Work on other civil and environmentally related studies and projects
  • Autodesk® computer aided design work

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program or related Environmental Science discipline required
  • Experience in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D (or other professional CAD software)
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with stream and wetland restoration design
  • Natural Channel Stream Design training (Rosgen) Level 3+ or similar certification
  • Experience in hydrologic and/or hydraulic modelling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D, and TR-55)
  • Familiarity with riparian corridor assessment and ecological restoration applying stream restoration practices including native plantings, natural channel design, floodplain reconnection and other best practices appropriate for given site conditions
