Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist performs a variety of accounting functions including, but not limited to, preparing and posting entry-level vendor or customer invoices when all of the supporting documentation has been received and compiled, processing payments to vendors or payments received from customers, and maintaining positive, high-quality vendor/customer relations.

Essential Functions / Responsibility:

  • Assist the Finance department in meeting departmental tasks and goals in a team environment by:

  • maintaining vendor and customer accounts;

  • completing day-to-day accounting tasks with monthly and quarterly closings;

  • completing Accounts Payable processing, including posting bills.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and other departments to understand AP transactions.

  • Assist with reconciling month-end closed accounts payable to the general ledger. Ensure integrity and accuracy of general ledger and financial reporting.

  • Process payments by check, electronic transfers, or credit cards.

  • Provide backup documentation for the analysis and preparation of financial documentation, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding vendor and organization information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Be knowledgeable about basic accounting, cash handling, control procedures, invoicing, documentation, record keeping, and computer concepts.

  • Have extreme attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.

  • Have excellent interpersonal communication, customer service, and organizational skills, and ability to interface well with other department staff.

  • Be able to demonstrate analytical skills, including problem-solving, organizing and interpreting data, and presenting data to make or support a decision.

  • Be knowledgeable of how to protect and keep valued company business information, both of Nomad and other companies, in good standing.

  • Work well under pressure and manage multiple demands, while shifting work priorities and changes in a fast-paced environment. Be able to deal with ambiguity and diversity with effective judgment and decision-making skills to arrive at executed results.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

    Working Environment:

  • The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

  • The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that SDS.

  • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED. Additional education a plus but not required.

  • Previous accounting experience, including Accounts Payable processing, highly preferred.

  • Must have

  • excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both written and verbal) skills;

  • strong time and project management skills to meet deadlines;

  • excellent attention to detail;

  • strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry programs.

  • Must be able to

  • work with little to minimal supervision;

  • sustain effective work relationships to foster an environment where innovation, collaboration, and cooperation are used to solve problems.

  • Must be able to successfully pass local and/or State background checks, including fiduciary.
