Description

Under general direction of the Benefits, Wellness & Leave Manager, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for promoting a culture of wellness through planning, administrating, and evaluating innovative programs and services with the ultimate goal to enhance the health and wellness of the organization.

Principal Duties

  • Plan, research, implement, administer, and evaluate the City's wellness program and related activities, to include assessing the effectiveness of programs, and developing and implementing program changes and/or enhancements.

  • Develop innovative and creative approaches to improve employee health and well-being while reducing high risk factors and behaviors and addressing all pillars of holistic health.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to include, but not limited to the City's Employee Health Clinic and third-party Wellness vendor, committees, and other community wellness/health promotion resources.

  • Increase employee health awareness and provide training and information about a variety of health topics through marketing materials, online content, presentations, motivation programs, etc.

  • Participate in developing timelines, communications, key success factors and metrics to identify expected outcomes, success and ROI of wellness programs and initiatives.

  • Coordinate and administer special events promoting wellness, to include but not limited to classes, speakers and seminars, biometric screenings, health fairs, fitness challenges, athletic events, community partnerships, vaccinations, and blood drives.

  • Assist employees with interpretation of wellness program activities, processes/procedures and resolution of issues as needed. Assist in developing and implementing procedures, preparing, and updating forms and manuals.

  • Benchmark successful external programs and stay current with best practices to drive participation and promote the improvement of overall health & wellbeing.

  • Participate in establishing and implementing wellness program enhancements and opportunities and analyze statistical data to identify the trend of employee health using all available internal health care data such as health assessment results, claims utilization data, employee survey data, and other data as appropriate to create wellness programs or initiatives that meet the City’s needs and goals.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in a health or science related discipline including Public Health, Wellness, Fitness, Nutrition, or related field and three (3) years of related experience, including working knowledge of health, fitness, and wellness promotion principles or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong verbal & written communication abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong motivational skills. Commitment to health and wellness. Proficient in Microsoft products, including Word and Excel, with the ability to learn software related to departmental functions. Ability to prioritize projects and meet established or anticipated deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to adapt to change while simultaneously maintaining focus on organizational and operational objectives.

Preferred:

Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) or related certification. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of mental health program administration. Experience working in a matrix style leadership environment. Program management experience within an organization.
