PPG INDUSTRIES, INC. Customer Support Chemist, Adhesives & Sealants in Cleveland, Ohio

As the Lead Chemist, you will find yourself at the heart of innovation, driving product development, orchestrating collaborations, and delivering solutions that solidify PPG's leadership in OEM automotive sealants. You'll be recognized as an expert in adhesive and sealant technology, collaborating with the A&S Customer Development technical team and the operations teams to refine and roll out our portfolio. You will report to the Technical Manager and work onsite in Cleveland, OH. Key Responsibilities: Product Development: Independently lead new product approvals through the New Product Development (NPD) Process for multiple customers. Collaboration: Engage with the Project and Product Management teams on the new product transfer process. Testing: Design testing matrices for customer specification testing and create experiments for product confirmations and customer validations. Formula Management: Promote the creation and systematic upkeep of formulas in ERP systems. Project Management: Take the reins of custom projects designed to cater to specific customer needs and solve production bottlenecks. Industrialization Best Practices: Set and advocate for protocols from initial design through to New Product Introduction (NPI). Process-Focused Support: Adopt and propagate a process-driven approach in all project support activities. Statistical Analysis: Harness statistical analysis and Design of Experiment (DOE) tools to propel product development strategies forward. Qualifications: Degree in Engineering or Chemistry with experience as below: Doctorate and 3+ years' of experience in the related field OR Master's Degree and 8+ years' of relevant experience OR Bachelor's Degree (BS) and 15+ years' of experience.
