OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE OF JOB

Develop and maintain quality systems that comply with applicable B&L and regulatory standards. Supervise the product release, document control functions, training, compliance (internal auditing, supplier management and CAPA), and complaint investigation. Develop and monitor quality improvement and validation activities. Assure compliance to required standards through internal audits and management review, document control system and finish product release. Responsible for communicating and implementing the local quality policy. Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

KEY ACTIVITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that the quality management system requirements are effectively established and effectively maintained in accordance with the requirements of 21CFR820, EU MDR and EN ISO 13485 and reporting to top management on the performance of the quality system for review and any need for improvement.

  • Ensures that the processes needed for the quality management system are documented.

  • Ensures the promotion of awareness of regulatory and quality management system requirements throughout the organization.

  • Assists in developing quality goals and objectives from the Quality Policy that are linked to the business plan. Communicates and implements the Quality Policy.

  • Manage Quality System Organization including Document Control, Compliance, and Complaint Investigation functions.

  • Assist in the developing and monitoring of quality improvement and validation activities. Overall responsibility for the managing the CAPA system and Management Review process.

  • Manages the Internal and External Audit Programs. Liaison with Global B&L and external contacts with regards to quality issues.

SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Support the Director of Quality with leading and development and management of effective and compliant quality systems and work closely with various cross functional members of site to ensure all requirements are described and meet the needs of regulations and functional excellence.

  • Responsible for implementing new or revised regional quality systems requirement within business unit groups and will facilitate need for appropriate training with human resources.

  • Work directly with operating entities, R&D, Regulatory and vendors to ensure that management controls, product life cycle requirements including risk management, inspections, statistical process control analyses and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements and meet specifications.

  • Interface with Global Device Complaint Management (GDCM) to review complaint investigations/handling and trend such complaints.

  • Assists in the development and monitoring of department budgets.

  • Coach, develop and mentor Quality employees. Allocates/re-allocates internal and external resources, as needed with advice from Sr. Quality management.

  • Ensure that all metrics presented to the management are in sync with site and regional requirements and metrics.

  • Perform all the follow up work to set-up management review and closure of all action items.

  • Represent the site QA function on business unit portfolio meetings and conferences to provide necessary support and will work closely with a cross functional team in mitigating risks associated with the product portfolio.

  • Manage site audit preparation ensuring all elements of quality systems are being managed effectively and in timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING

  • BS Engineering or Technical field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Knowledgeable of ISO 13485 and regulatory requirements and quality system development and management. Medical Devices experience required. Knowledgeable of statistical techniques and application experience. Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, strong written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • ISO / QSR training, auditor training / experience preferred, validation experience and applied statistics (SPC, DOE, Regression, etc.) preferred.

  • Supervisory experience, minimum 7-10 years' experience in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical industry in a quality discipline.
