The Senior User Experience Engineer will work closely across the Digital, Design & Innovation organization and collaborate with the Lines of Business and cross-functional partners to bring the future of Fifth Third Bank to life.

As a key member of the User Experience Engineering team, the Senior User Experience Engineer serves as a bridge between design and development, ensuring the delivery of simple, delightful and inclusive mobile-native experiences at scale. This role will work within an Agile environment, coding prototypes and polished production-ready interfaces for Android, while keeping UI pattern reusability in mind as part of an enterprise design system. The Senior User Experience Engineer will also be a key contributor to the delivery of accessible mobile user interfaces, with a strong focus on ensuring all new functionality adheres to WCAG AA requirements.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. This position acts as the liaison between the Risk, Audit and Analytic teams. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate across functions (Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and User Researchers) to deliver the best possible experiences for our customers.

• Build reusable components for Android that support fully accessible experiences.

• Architect efficient and reusable components and abstractions.

• Work side-by-side with UX designers to ideate on concepts and bring designs to life.

• Perform regular design and code reviews and participate in debugging and coding to resolve issues

• Have a solid understanding of user experience design and serve as an advocate for the discipline across teams

• Keep up to date with latest technologies and tools and evangelize their value within the development teams

• Work with multiple agile teams to identify opportunities to enhance the customer experience while providing value to the business

• Ideal candidate for this role is highly encouraged to find ways to cultivate and share knowledge and best practices with peers and collaborators

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:

• 6 or more years of experience in a field that directly or readily translates to the responsibilities of this role

• Ability to write high performance production quality code.

• Experience with the latest and greatest mobile native standards for Android, Jetpack Compose, Java, Kotlin.

• An understanding of the principles of accessibility and can build products that are accessible to users with disabilities.

• Strong sense of user interface design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience

• Ability to manage tasks with varying priorities.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Familiarity with design systems and the concept of design tokens

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
