About the Department The Strategic Programs & Initiatives (SP&I) department in the Office of Research at the University of Cincinnati provides the critical infrastructure that UC faculty and students require to take their ideas to the next level; collaborate freely across colleges and disciplines; fuse fruitful research partnerships with clinical, government, community, and corporate partners; and be more competitive for high value awards and fellowships recognized as particularly prestigious by the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Top American Research Universities (TARU), and the Center for Measuring University Performance (CMUP). SP&I advances scientific exploration, creative expression, and the production of new knowledge. Job Overview The SP&I department is seeking to fill a Program Coordinator position. The primary purpose of this position is to support external award growth for the UC research enterprise in the areas of family and corporate foundations and Top American Research University Awards. Continual monitoring, tracking, trend analysis, and mapping to internal faculty candidate is needed to increase UC's competitiveness in these areas. In addition, this position will be responsible for pre-award activities including understanding funding announcements, preparing budgets, and preparing proposal packets for internal systems, federal, and private submission portals. Essential Functions Assist with pre-award support for major proposals. Source and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on external funding programs and awards. Design/create and conduct seminars, classes, workshops or programs. Develop program objectives and monitor quantitative and qualitative data on progress toward objectives. Review objectives to identify problems and solutions, prioritize solutions and develop action steps for program improvement. Provide financial administrative support for program initiatives. Develop, administer and analyze assessment/evaluation questionnaires. Compile statistics and prepare reports. Develop and implement marketing strategies to recruit students and program participants. Interact with staff faculty, external agencies and other university departments. May conduct research and analyze relevant literature, other benchmark information to develop grant proposals, new program ideas and propose program changes. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
