WTW Proposal Project Manager — Health, Wealth & Career North America Proposal Group in Chicago, Illinois

The primary responsibility of this position is the development and management of bids for the Health, Wealth & Career segment in North America, namely for the Retirement, Health & Benefits and Integrated & Global Solutions businesses and cross-business bids. The colleague will serve as the project manager and collaborate with bid team members, consultants, subject matter experts and others to ensure that top-quality proposals are prepared efficiently and on time. The colleague will also serve as the writer and editor responsible for assembling and developing proposal content and maintaining its quality. Secondary responsibilities include collecting and maintaining best-practice proposal information, assisting other team members as needed and serving as a general bid management resource.

This is a full-time remote position. Some preference may be given to candidates located in or near Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, Minneapolis and Toronto.

The Role

The Proposal Project Manager will work with teams to develop and project-manage new business proposals and related materials, typically with short turnaround times. This includes the following tasks:

  • Follow established processes, including providing standard language, maintaining proposal schedules, performing a significant portion of the writing and editing, monitoring progress and overseeing the completion of all related tasks

  • Schedule and facilitate strategic proposal coordination and review discussions, working with senior consultants to determine roles, responsibilities and deadlines

  • Meet internal and external deadlines, and support proposal teams and other colleagues in doing so

  • Provide support to other team members on other proposals and projects

  • Track down and verify accuracy of information through various company resources

  • Build and maintain situational awareness of proposal subject matter and developments within the businesses we support

  • Contribute to the team knowledge base

  • Remain consistently aware of and use company and work group’s preferred styles, writing techniques, grammar principles and company brand

  • Maintain up-to-date records for proposal filing, tracking and reporting purposes

  • Collaborate with design resources on such items as customized graphics, infographics and covers

  • Work with and provide instructions to support staff for proposal production and shipping

  • Help define and support best practices; seek and share reasonable process improvements

In addition, the Proposal Project Manager will be expected to write, edit and support other materials as needed and handle other duties as assigned.

The Requirements

  • At least five years of bid management, proposal writing, or related experience preferred, particularly with professional services firms; candidates with less experience may also be considered

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and quality; excellent organizational, problem-solving and project management skills

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; a genuine passion for the English language

  • Ability to synthesize information from RFPs, documents and other sources

  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and cooperate with consultants, support staff and team members

  • “Can-do” attitude and flexibility; ability to respond quickly and creatively to changing requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively amid ambiguity and competing demands

  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technology as needed

  • Experience and facility with Microsoft® Office Suite, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook and other core business and productivity tools; excellent command of Word as well as working ability in PowerPoint and Excel; familiarity with proposal-automation software (especially Loopio) is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a major or concentration in English, writing, the humanities, liberal arts or a relevant discipline preferred

  • Relevant experience, particularly with writing or editing in a corporate environment as part of a team and/or transferable skills are desirable; experience in a professional services environment is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements for various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role base on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual qualifications, education/profession certifications, experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $65,000- $80,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
