The BIP Lab is dedicated to understanding how behavioral insights can be used to leverage parental investments to promote children\'s development and reduce social and economic inequality.

Job Summary

The Associate Director, Research Operations and Technology Transfer, will provide strategic leadership for the Center of Human Potential and Public Policy (CHPPP) and its research, housed at the Behavioral Insights and Parenting Lab (BIP Lab). Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED) of the BIP Lab, the position has overall responsibility for managing research and program implementation, providing leadership on institutional partnerships in the education and family services sectors, implementation science, scaling technology-based programs, and data collection at the BIP Lab. This position also works alongside the ED to supervise a project team, overseeing the planning and implementation of research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Partnerships: develops strategic partnerships for research and technology-based programs, including a novel program with AI integrations; meets with organizations interested in CHPPP/BIP Lab\'s research; leads written and verbal reports and presentations to potential and existing partners; leads strategic partner recruitment across projects, supports preparation of promotional materials.
  • Manages special projects related to technology program transfer of research.
  • Leads implementation of special projects related to technology transfer of research (i.e. creation of technology-based tools and resources for families).
  • Hires and manages research assistants for special projects.
  • Evaluates, hires, and manages outside vendors and contractors to execute special projects.
  • Manages budget, purchasing, reimbursements, reconciliations, and expense tracking for special projects.
  • Data management and dissemination: ensures adherence to highest standards of data security and storage; conducts data quality assurance; supports process for making data publicly available; supports data management protocols in consultation with PhD team.
  • Research and lab administration: co-leads project team with ED in the implementation of research and programming; troubleshoots issues with project teams; advises on data collection strategy; supports research design; provides guidance on research implementation protocols, IRB protocols, and controlled trial registration submissions.
  • Grant administration: supports reporting to sponsors; drafts programmatic reports/memos.
  • Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently to assist with project design.
  • Guides data collection, evaluation and analysis. Designs and manages databases. Writes reports, articles and manuscripts.
  • Presents research findings at meetings and conferences, as well as to funding agencies. Conducts literature reviews. Develop and maintain liaisons and effective working relations with groups and individuals, agencies, and the public to encourage cooperative management strategies or to develop information and interpret findings.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field of study (psychology, public policy, sociology, education, or related social science discipline).
  • Master\'s degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Project management.
  • 2 years experience managing a direct report or a team.
  • 2 years experience managing projects in the education or education technology, or related policy or research sectors.
  • 5 years experience with research or program design and implementation and data collection and management.
  • 5 years experience developing community partnerships in the education or family services sector.
  • Experience working with diverse communities with a strong commitment to issues of equity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of university IRB procedures a bonus.

Preferred Competencies

Leadership experience in the education or education technology, policy, and/or research sectors.
