DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Accounting Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you will provide clerical and accounting support in the Inmate Accounting Section of the institution's Business Office. You will perform bookkeeping duties, including recording, reviewing, classifying, and processing inmate transactions, as well as revenue-producing activities under the Inmate General Welfare Fund's (IGWF) Accounting Manual. You will prepare and issue release forms and notifications when inmates are released; refund prepaid phone time to the inmate's account; review lists of personal property and retrieve items to be disbursed to inmates upon release; and perform miscellaneous accounting transactions and reconciliations. Ideally, you will have working knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Excel and Gravity.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week) Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,003.00 (before taxes). Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within (3) months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
