Aerotek Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Up To 35/hr) in Chesapeake, Virginia

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and Repair : Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and perform necessary repairs on engines, hydraulic systems, and other components.

  • Routine Maintenance : Conduct regular inspections, oil changes, and fluid level checks to ensure equipment operates smoothly.

  • Parts Replacement : Replace faulty parts and ensure all machinery components are in good working condition.

  • Technical Documentation : Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to guide repairs and maintenance.

  • Safety Compliance : Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

  • Record Keeping : Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed on equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certification or associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is often preferred.

  • Experience : Hands-on experience with heavy equipment maintenance, typically gained through apprenticeships or previous job roles.

  • Skills : Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; ability to use diagnostic tools and read technical manuals.

  • Certifications : Professional certifications like ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are highly regarded.
