Description

Amazon.com is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Engineer to join the Digital Acceleration Catalog team. The Digital Acceleration Catalog team owns services supporting the publishing, pricing and purchase of Digital content, including Kindle Books, Amazon AppStore, Amazon Music, Amazon Video, etc.

This candidate will be joining a team working on scalable web services using cloud technologies. The work will be highly visible to Amazon customers and internal stakeholders.

As a Software Development Engineer, this person will lead the architecture and development of high-scale web services and workflows. A successful candidate will have an established background in designing and developing back-end web services, strong technical skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, and great analytical reasoning skills.

Key job responsibilities

  1. The candidate will be responsible to analyze, design and develop the products for the DA Catalog team.

  2. The candidate will have opportunity to lead, mentor the junior team members.

  3. The candidate will be responsible for the routing on-call activities, reduce the Op-Ex goals, maintain the healthy pipeline.

  4. The candidate will be responsible to deliver the product with right quality with minimal or zero defects.

  5. The candidate will be responsible to test and deliver the product, do that automation if needed.

About the team

Digital Catalog team enables merchandizing of 1 billion ASINS for digital Alacarte (ALC), Subscriptions and Bundles products for 18 ALC and 21 Subs Businesses. Product owners and marketeers are our primary customers who leverage our services for merchandizing their products in Amazon and external channels like Google. We offer self-serviceable CX and API integrations for product creation, orchestration and workflows for publishing products to the chosen Catalog stores and vending products for Discovery, purchase and Commerce requirements. We own 5 Tier 1 services primarily for Discovery and Vending Catalog metadata serving around 125K TPS.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
