Job Summary

If you're seeking a leadership role in Human Resources, then Emerson has a great opportunity for you! The Director, Human Resources will serve as the leading strategic HR business partner for Discrete Automation Group Asia Pacific (APAC) including the Discrete Automation, Branson and Appleton business units, Presidents, and world area leadership teams.

This is an essential role for the development and execution of organizational strategies that align structure, function, culture, and talent with business strategic priorities across all sites and functional fields in APAC. It is also a key role in collaboration with Emerson’s broader HR leadership team in APAC, driving enterprise programs and leveraged capability.

This role reports to the Global Vice President of Human Resources for with dotted line reporting to world area and business unit Presidents for APAC, while leading a team of 20 employees with Director and Manager level HR leaders in China, Japan, Korea, India & Southeast Asia, providing HR guidance, counsel and decision making.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Responsible for leading, implementing and completing the organization’s HR strategy, key projects, and initiatives within APAC.

  • Responsible for effective succession/organization planning processes and help develop the Discrete Automation Group (DISC) executive management team and talent pipeline/bench strength.

  • Assist with the creation and implementation of appropriate organization design, including vertical and functional position alignment, clarity of accountabilities and authorities, matching people to positions and recommending managerial leadership practices.

  • Work closely with business leadership to identify staffing priorities and develop recruiting strategies to win talents.

  • Oversees and directs all sites’ human resources and talent related investments and cost management initiatives actions and related investment/restructuring actions.

  • Responsible for being a steward of the company culture, including ethics, integrity, and safety, and ensuring all APAC sites adhere to local legal labor standards.

  • Uses a deep understanding of business needs and participates in systematically solving business problems across the region through the talent lens.

  • Drive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts for the business to strengthen company culture and talent development.

  • Manage the organization & talent review processes to ensure the growth of high potential employees.

  • Leverage enterprise L&D resources and drive the development & execution of appropriate plans and programs to ensure all employees have the skills, knowledge, and experience to perform and excel in their roles.

  • Be a change agent within the business and team. Use influential leadership to inspire change across APAC to improve organizational outcomes.

  • Act as an organizational and simplification champion who builds organizational capabilities, reduces complexity and partners with clients to improve team performance.

  • Provide timely, effective, and direct coaching and employee support to business leaders and employees, assisting in the development of strong, contemporary horizontal leadership skills.

  • Supervises all Your Voice Counts employee engagement activities across sites and ensures follow up and improvement actions.

  • Provide HR metrics to global and world area leadership team to track desired cadence for overall human resource management plans.

  • Participate as a strategic member of the World Area Discrete Automation APAC Leadership Team, Emerson Asia Pacific HR Leadership Team, and Global Discrete Automation HR Leadership Team to contribute important HR initiatives and decisions.

  • Direct management of HR organization including country level Directors and Managers. Ensure strong partnership and collaboration with Emerson World Area HR Team.

  • Develop and motivate the DISC HR team to bring forth a strong, pro-active HR presence in the region, using best practices and strengthen HR competencies.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • At least 12-15 years of regional HR management experience in a global multinational corporation environment with passion in people management.

  • Relevant leadership experience leading HR and functional HR teams in APAC.

  • Experience or great understanding of HR practices & local law requirement within APAC.

  • Demonstrated ability & courage to lead & inspire change.

  • Ability to motivate and influence in complex, matrix, goal-focused organizations.

  • Ability to think long term vision and plan for success.

  • Able to quickly build a rapport, confidence and trust of peers, employees, and executives.

  • Effectively handle multiple priorities and communicate well at all levels in the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment with good planning/priority and management competencies.

  • High level of flexibility, commitment, and performance standards.

  • Good spoken, written communication and presentation skills.

  • Need to travel through APAC.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Advanced Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience, MBA preferred.

  • Experience within or solid understanding of manufacturing environments preferred.
