WestRock Company Maintenance Supervisor in Chattanooga, Tennessee
The Opportunity
As a Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for providing expertise and leadership to the service and maintenance staff while ensuring the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of WestRock’s plant assets. Your role will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement of plant operations to enable efficient, high-quality production of customer products.
How you will impact WestRock:
Develop and implement the short- and long-term maintenance strategy to enable operating efficiency in alignment with WestRock’s values
Supervise and inspect maintenance work to ensure the most effective, efficient and up-to-date technology and preferred maintenance practices are implemented by craftsmen
Ensure a safe work environment and adherence to all corporate, state and federal safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and regulations by all maintenance staff
Manage maintenance employees, set and communicate maintenance schedule, and define a team vision to always be working to prevent any downtime and minimize the unexpected.
Create daily schedules with assigned tasks by employee, a timeline on how long the task will take, a cart with all the parts clearly marked and a maintenance team member assigned to the machine for the day to make sure the schedule is followed.
Ensure the PvM’s are being done and loaded in the system. Follow up and audit to make sure they are logged in and completed correctly.
Establish a good working relationship with outside vendors. Report updates to manager.
Conduct ordering for the plant regarding PO’s and collaborate with manager on the budget. Work to minimize the current spend and compare pricing and get more than one quote.
Build a good relationship with managers and supervisors, and collaborate with management to ensure machines are at 100 % performance. Determine if additional training or one-point lessons are needed for the team.
Maintain a clean and organized (5S) shop and maintain inventory and labeling.
Assist Management in executing operating strategies and plans, and achieving company goals and objectives.
What you need to succeed:
2- year technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred
5 - 10 years in industrial maintenance with supervisory experience of maintenance engineers preferred
Adept at problem-solving and identifying root cause to implement preventative methods
Ability to plan and manage a budget
Ability to work within a 24/7 plant operations facility
Be a strategic thinker with the confidence to make decisions which impact safety, uptime and productivity
Ability to coach and develop talent to create a highly productive, safety-conscious team
Strong communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization
