Responsibilities

PRN Days

Exercise Physiologist II is responsible for the assessment, development and delivery of all phases of care in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation setting. He/she is responsible for development of the individualized treatment plan, exercise prescription and patient education. The Exercise Physiologist II provides expertise and safety for all physical activity and exercise domains with specific focus on therapeutic delivery and intervention in secondary prevention settings including Cardiac, Pulmonary, Vascular and Oncology settings. Exercise Physiologist II participates in the development of high acuity exercise prescriptions for persons with multiple and complex comorbidities.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Screen, assess and disseminate patients for program eligibility and appropriateness.

  2. Evaluate and deliver Phase I care for eligible populations (cardiac, pulmonary and oncologic) in accordance with departmental policy and procedures

  3. Assess, intervene and track outcomes in Phase II programs in line with AACVPR recommendations and core competencies.

  4. Risk stratification of patients to triage appropriate treatment plan, exercise prescription, program progression and education plan for all patients.

  5. Monitor, evaluate and manage ECG, hemodynamics and general patient safety during exercise in all phases of care.

  6. Assist patients in goal setting and outcomes management in accordance with AACVPR and department standards

  7. Demonstrate and implement professional skills and resources appropriate for AACVPR and/or ACSM certification.

  8. Conduct and interpret applicable functional assessments and clinical skills in accordance with AACVPR and department standards of care.

  9. Document and chart relevant findings in EMR and Telemetry monitoring systems in accordance with department standards and professional scope of practice.

  10. Maintain compliance with CMS standards for Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and professional certifications.

  11. Actively participate in MDR, Cardiopulmonary and Oncology related organizational work groups as assigned

  12. Contribute and manage AACVPR data registry

  13. Provide expert exercise prescription consultation for special populations as appropriate (e.g. oncology, neurological, etc.)

  14. Participate in weekly MDRs in assigned areas of care

  15. Lead and manage departmental research projects and applicable processes when appropriate

  16. Facilitate health behavior change as appropriate individually for all phases of care

Qualifications

M.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology or equivalent

BLS and ACLS required; ACSM-CEP or AACVPR CCRP required within one year of hire as FT or PT employee and maintain certification while employed as an Exercise Physiologist II in this department.

12 months relevant experience with secondary prevention populations or ≥120 hr. Internship in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. Experience with recognition and interpretation of 12 lead and exercise ECG. Documented course-work and/or demonstrated experience in exercise prescription, anatomy/physiology and human movement.

Pay Range

$20.62 - $28.35 /hour
