Red River Senior Program Control Analyst in Chantilly, Virginia

Red River is seeking a Senior Program Control Analyst to join the Finance & Accounting team in Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate will be responsible for program-driven financial reporting, analysis, project accounting, and ensuring proper revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP over several Federal and State programs along with program/financial related responsibilities working with the organization. This position will work directly with Accounting, and closely with Delivery, Compliance, and cross-functional operations teams across the organization to drive accurate revenue and cost recognition, analysis, and reporting along with other types of reporting and analysis. The Senior Program Control Analyst will work alongside program managers in support of managing the financial and contractual elements of the project(s). The successful candidate must be proactive, have strong problem-solving ability, be able to work independently, have strong technical accounting skills, particularly around revenue recognition, accruals, program details, and provide detailed financial analytics to stakeholders.

Primary Position Tasks:

  • Perform analysis of budgets and schedules needed to meet contractual/project requirements for assigned programs.

  • Work with Program Manager to collect bottom-up financial forecasts/EAC’s.

  • Collaboration with team members and Program Management to ensure accuracy in data reporting

  • Prepare internal and external reporting by program in accordance with company/contract requirements.

  • Ongoing variance and risk analysis to budget, actuals, and forecast.

  • Prepare reports of findings and recommendations to management.

  • Prepare accurate and timely billing to customers in coordination with Accounts Receivable Team.

  • Identify corrective actions needed and work with accounting staff to ensure P&L accurately reflects financial performance.

  • Monitor subcontract obligations.

  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to review vendor invoices.

  • Responsible for monthly close process relative to assigned projects and programs, particularly accrual accounting

  • Document and submit information in support of accruals for work performed but not yet invoiced in accordance with FASB standards and GAAP.

  • Support Finance leadership in other analytics and ad-hoc reporting as required.

  • Other business duties as assigned

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • BS Accounting or Business Administration

  • Experience with federal government contracts (FFP, T&M, CPFF)

  • 3+ years of relevant Financial Analysis or Project Accounting experience in a government contracting environment.

  • Must have extremely strong MS Excel skills and experience in financial analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to remain flexible in a constantly changing and challenging environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to maximize performance and results.

  • Maturity, professionalism, and a high level of discretion are required.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, and perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Elements:

This position is an office position that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday.

This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
