Bureau of Land Management Legal Instruments Examiner in Casper, Wyoming

Responsibilities Examine applications for oil and gas agreement action application instruments and supporting documents to determine whether the instruments conform to regulations, policy and procedures. Examine legal ownership affecting oil and gas agreement applications to show evidence to the title or interest in the property. Process communization agreements to approval. Provide data input support for all agreements actions processed by the RMG. Verify information and coordinate with specialists to resolve any discrepancies. No assumptions will be made about your experience. For GS-7: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-6 in the federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as: (1) The examiner must have a comprehensive and working knowledge of the public land and mineral laws, regulations and procedures; Department Directives, Bureau and State Office Instruction and Information Memoranda pertaining to lands, minerals and oil and gas. (2) The examiner must have knowledge and understanding of land descriptions, land status records, and filing systems. Knowledge of the terms and lay language associated with prospecting and mining of minerals. (3) The examiner must have thorough knowledge of the appropriate automated data base system enabling the incumbent to abstract and code a wide variety of legal data, dealing with all phases ofland and mineral applications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary with rapidly changing priorities and scheduling with occasional travel. Incumbent will be required to make visits to field offices for conferences, training, and meetings. Initial training may be time-consuming, requiring trips to the National Training Center in Phoenix and/or other out-of-state trips to attend training. Work Environment: The work will be performed primarily in an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
