Actalent Senior Electronics Technician in Carson, California

Senior Engineering Technician Job Description:

Our organization is seeking the services of a seasoned Technician with extensive experience in the repair, calibration, and installation of various electronic equipment to support our upcoming Verification & Validation (V&V) testing project. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient operation and integrity of our laboratory environment and its equipment. The Sr. Technician will be responsible for performing technical work that includes but is not limited to:

  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of a wide range of electronic equipment, with an emphasis on high power electronics products up to 8 KW, such as 3-phase power supplies and motor drives.

  • Soldering PCB components, particularly SMT parts including microprocessors, ensuring quality and adherence to IPC standards.

  • Providing manufacturing test support, including troubleshooting, fault isolation, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Conducting detailed experimental testing and creating test reports that cover both functional and performance aspects of electronics products.

  • Supporting product testing across various phases including integration, functional, design verification, performance, and qualification testing.

  • Fabrication of parts, cables, and test fixtures as well as maintenance of related equipment.

  • Managing inventory for replacement parts and maintaining records related to equipment repairs, warranties, and schematics.

  • Create ADCNs for minor electronics assembly rework instructions.

  • Utilize and maintain proficiency with electronic equipment such as programmable power supplies, digital oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

MUST-HAVE Skills & Qualifications:

  • Test Box Set Up and troubleshooting

  • Harness Assembly: Ability to fabricate and assemble low or high power harnesses from basic engineering drawings

  • PCB repairs and soldering electronic components on PCBs per IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 standards

  • Experience working with high-power electronics

Additional "Nice-to-Have" Skills & Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with electronic systems and equipment and schematics.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic systems and conducting failure analysis.

  • Ability to understand and test serial communication hardware.

  • General capability to perform Job Hazard Analysis, Material Safety Review, and test setup safety review.

  • Technical proficiency in creating detailed test reports and conducting fault analysis.

  • Create test procedures such as DVTP, ATP, QTP and test reports such as: DVTR, QTR, etc.

  • AS degree in Electronics Technology and/or equivalent military (avionics) training.

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial aerospace/automotive electrical products/systems R&D and development testing.

  • Certification in J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 soldering strongly preferred.
