Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking aBuyer-s Assistantto join our Acquisition Services team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Not a remote position

The Buyer's Assistant will support SIMCO Acquisition Services with review and approval of supplier invoices for payment, supplier and internal customer communications, and subcontract file organization and maintenance. The Buyer's Assistant will review invoices for allowability in accordance with purchase order terms and conditions. The Buyer's Assistant will work with Accounts Payable, Procurement Specialists and Buyers, and field personnel to obtain approvals on invoices and to resolve invoice issues in processing payments. Buyer's Assistant will also assist subcontract specialists by performing some of the following duties, not limited to: minor subcontract closeout, assisting with file preparation, processing non taxable certificates, performing general market research, note taking, processing/collecting past performance past performance information, supporting source selection boards, tracking insurance certificates, and other duties as assigned by Acquisition Services Management.

The position requires ability to interact professionally with multiple levels of management, employees, and other stakeholders. Must exercise good judgement, discretion, and professionalism in all matters.

Non-Exempt Salary Grade (24 - 26)

  • Bachelor's Degree, or

  • Associate-s Degree with two (2) years of working experience, or

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of working experience is required.

    Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

    Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

    Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in legal contracting, government acquisition services, general accounting, or accounts payable departments are preferred.

  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Minimum salary $52,255 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
