We are seeking a Project Manager in the Southwest & Wales region to work on a large transport infrastructure framework, managing a portfolio of projects ranging from £20k - £200k in fees as well as smaller individual projects as required.

This role will provide whole lifecycle responsibility for the delivery performance, profitability and quality performance of design service projects including project Client engagement. The role focuses on Clients and projects in the Transport Infrastructure sector, which by their very nature require cross discipline delivery. This role reports to the WSP Cardiff office Team Leader.

  • Leadership of teams delivering design & professional services projects.

  • Preparing key documentation including quality plans, safety plans and Works Quotations.

  • Engagement and day to day liaison with Client project leadership team.

  • Close liaison with the Framework Contractors project leadership team.

  • Developing a clear project pricing submission and project schedule reflecting the client’s instruction.

  • Embedding the project delivery strategy to drive successful delivery and commercial performance, ensuring Key Performance Indicators are achieved.

  • Co-ordinating with the Client and Contractor project leadership teams to manage the timely receipt of information.

  • Administering the Contract including change management.

  • Engaging with project teams and the wider WSP business to manage resource demands.

  • Preparing monthly reports to support Client and internal reporting requirements.

  • Driving compliance with WSPs procedures.

  • Creating a supportive and positive project environment where people can develop and grow.

KEY INTERFACES

  • Close co-operation with the Project Director on project delivery strategy.

  • Day to day liaison with the Client Project Manager.

  • Day to day liaison with the Framework Contractor Project team.

  • Leadership and management of discipline leads and package managers.

  • Liaison across the business to ensure engagement of project resources

  • Overall co-ordination of the project team.

  • Supporting improved project delivery and best practice development.

  • Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management and/or APM PMQ / Prince2 Practitioner qualified or equivalent.

  • Experience of successful team management, planning and contract administration (preferable NEC3 and NEC4).

  • Experience of successful project budget management and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to engaging with others.

  • A self-motivated approach to working and are comfortable acting on your own initiative with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Experience of managing ambiguity in a project environment with strong evaluation and decision-making skills.

  • The ability to work well under pressure.

  • A high standard of organisation and time management.
