Project Overview:

The ML2 Project scope is the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Florida, is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.

Job Summary:

Working as part of the NS&E finance team and Project team the position will be responsible for the support of the finance activities for the ML2 Project. The position will functionally report to the NS&E Controller and operationally to the Business Services Manager. The position will be required to work with the Project teams in ensuring all billings are issued in a timely manner and are in accordance with contractual terms, cash receivable and accounts payable management will be required, along with general finance support to the project with respect to employee accounts etc. The position will be required to interact with functional departments to ensure smooth operations of the Project. #LI-HB1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establishing financial and administrative controls for the Project in accordance Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements and applicable statutory regulations.

  • Undertake the responsibility for books of accounts, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers.

  • Perform statutory reporting requirements for Project books and assist with Corporate Controller requirements.

  • Ensures monthly billings are performed in accordance with contract terms.

  • Manages the accounts receivable and payables to ensure prompt payments are made and received.

  • Monitors status of employee receivables as they pertain to the project and works with project management in ensuring all accounts are current.

  • Provides analysis of financial information, estimates of costs and preparation of forecasts and adhoc management reporting as required by Project and GBU Management

  • Provides support to Project team with respect to Concur expense reports, GBETR timesheets and payroll queries.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1

  • Requires a University Hire with less than 1 year of experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience

Level 2

  • Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Bechtel accounting procedures and systems

  • Must be willing to travel to fulfill training needs

  • Knowledge of Bechtel Billing and AP Processes

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques

  • Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions

  • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization
