The Job You Will Perform:

The role Maintenance Planner is to improve workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower/labor, parts and materials, and equipment access. The planner will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all plannable maintenance work performed in a specified area of the mill. He/she is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of workforce effectiveness and planning execution. The Maintenance Planner will report to the Area Maintenance Manager.

The maintenance planner is responsible for the following:

  • Reviews and screens each work request for completeness, accuracy, and necessity

  • Confirms priority and requested completions are realistic and provide practical lead time

  • Develops preliminary estimate for job scope if required to obtain approval

  • Initiates engineering approval process for all alteration and modification requests

  • Determines in detail the required conditions and level of planning

  • Visits the job site and analyzes the job in the field (at least one-third of the day should be spent in the field)

  • Confers with the work notification requestor

  • Clarifies the work request and refines the description (where, what, start, finish)

  • Prepares sketches or takes digital pictures to clarify intent of the work order for assigned mechanics or simply as reference

  • Uses equipment history to determine if the job has been previously performed

  • Talks to other functions with involvement or potential input in the job

  • Material Procurement

  • Daily Schedule Input

  • Job Closure and Follow-up

  • SAP work order management

The Skills You Will Bring:

High School or Trade School diploma is required. The successful candidate will have 5+ years industrial construction or maintenance experience with rotating equipment, pumping systems, and pressure vessels. Two plus years of planning experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance tools and familiarity with repair materials and a strong knowledge and skill level in Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), like SAP PM, are required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are required.
