Responsibilities NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Graphic Artist JOB SERIES: 1020 PAY LEVEL: NF-03 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Produces camera ready graphic design material for MCCS promotional campaigns utilizing a variety of art media including but not limited to; illustration/photo manipulation/page layout programs on Macintosh computers, in black & white, and color utilizing full color copiers/printers, computer graphics, photos, and clip art. Creates and executes within the department the layout of the weekly publication "Okinawa Living Weekly", monthly magazine "Okinawa Living", yearly publication "The Okinawa Guide" in addition to traditional and digital ads, menus, brochures, T-shirt designs, logos, posters, flyers, and other related projects as assigned. Collaborates with pertinent parties within the organization to complete required deadlines within specified time limits, under the direction of the supervisor. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMETNS: 4-year course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the fields of illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, visual communication, graphics adverting art, or related field; OR experience in the actual type of work in the appropriate fields; OR a combination of education and experience. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. At least two (2) years experience on Macintosh computer systems. 2. Knowledge of graphic design and layout, illustrative design, typography, printing procedures, and desktop publishing on the Macintosh platform. 3. Knowledge of all common art media, reproduction methods, papers, inks, artist supplies, graphic art equipment, lettering and art styles, flats/mechanicals, and mock ups. 4. Ability to produce products using desktop publishing applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. 5. Ability to develop advertisements, commercial print layout formats (e.g., newspapers, magazines, menus, digital media, brochures, T-shirt designs, logos, posters, flyers, and signs), and various graphic designs from verbal and written concepts/copy.
