Legal Navigator (CV768-219) - Safe Return Division

Salary - $60,000.00/Yr, together with benefits package.

We at Volunteers of America Delaware Valley are looking to hire a Legal Navigator. The successful candidate shall report to the Safe Return Legal Navigator Senior Program Coordinator.

The primary function will be to interview and assess clients to determine their legal needs, and with input from the Senior Program Coordinator, make appropriate referrals. They will have assistance in completing administrative tasks from a Legal Assistant.

Scope of Duties:

  • Interact verbally and nonverbally with clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.

  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.

  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.

  • Interview the client and other involved persons/agencies to identify client’s legal needs, and with input from Senior Program Coordinator, implement referral to appropriate legal services.

  • Liaise with IMPACT Program staff to link clients with underlying social service needs to appropriate services.

  • With assistance from the Legal Assistant, collect and compile all necessary documentation.

  • With assistance from the Legal Assistant, prepare and review documents as needed.

  • Maintain an extensive directory of resources relative to legal services.

  • Engage, as requested, with referral source representatives, including court staff and law enforcement.

  • Document client referrals and progress in client file.

  • Participate in required internal/external meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Credentials/Abilities:

  • Must possess an Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, or an Associate degree and a Certificate of Proficiency in Paralegal Studies.

  • Two years of experience as a paralegal.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding legal research skills, and the ability to multi-task.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet agency standards.
