JOB PURPOSE:

Within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, the MedicationSafety Systems Manager / Medication Safety Officer is responsible for managing the various CHAMedication Use Safety and Improvement Plans and for providing indirect pharmaceutical care.Primary, essential job functions include patient and medication safety, staffdevelopment/training, indirect patient care, and medication use improvement. A commitmentto customer satisfaction, efficient/effective use of resources, teamwork, and innovation isrequired.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Training:

  1. Graduate of an accredited college/university with BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degreeis required.

  2. Graduate of an accredited college/university with a Masters degree in a relevantdiscipline is desirable.

  3. Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification is required.

  4. Specialized training in quality and patient/medication safety curricula is required.

  5. Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Medication-Use Safety and Policy pharmacyresidency is desirable.

  6. Working knowledge of basic data analytic tools is required. Experience in EPICreporting is highly desirable.

Licensure:

Must have a current license in good standing from the Massachusetts Board ofRegistration in Pharmacy or be eligible for licensure in MA. In lieu of an active MA license,candidates must attain MA licensure prior to working 1000 hours at the Cambridge HealthAlliance (CHA). Failure to attain MA licensure within this period will result in the discontinuationof employment at CHA.

Work Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of inpatient clinical and/or management experienceas a pharmacist preferred. Demonstrated clinical expertise and a broad understanding of healthcare systems and processes with the ability to facilitate accurate interpretation of clinical events
