WSP USA Lead Process Engineer in Calgary, Alberta

The Opportunity:

WSP Oil and Gas Division is hiring lead process engineers to work in the Calgary’s Center of Excellence on projects in the oil and gas industry and energy transition markets. You will be part of our growing team, using your skills as an Engineer to design facilities across Canada and globally.

As a lead process engineer you will function as the process discipline lead on projects ranging from conceptual studies to detailed engineering of large mega projects.

What you can expect to do here:

  • The role includes functioning as the process discipline lead on projects, managing client relationship and project quality and ensuring that budget and schedule targets are met.

  • Additional activities will include communication and coordination with team members, other WSP groups, equipment vendors, clients, and sub-contractors.

  • Preparation of technical reports, specifications, process schematics, and layout drawings, including review of deliverables produced by junior and intermediate colleagues.

  • Process and technology selection, equipment sizing and specification, mass balance, hydraulic analysis, 3D layout review, including review of analysis and design by junior and intermediate colleagues.

  • Mentoring and on-the-job training for junior and intermediate colleagues.

  • Project management of multiple simultaneous projects, including project resource management (in conjunction with other team seniors) and personal time management; Providing project support for other senior staff as required; Supporting the management team with budgeting, strategy development and execution, staff reviews, and delivering training programs.

  • Primarily hybrid-based consulting engineering work with some opportunities for business travel and fieldwork.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • 15+ years' experience in the oil and gas industry working as a process engineer with previous experience as a Lead.

  • Enjoy leading a team to complete engineering deliverables.

  • Strong communication and report writing skills.

  • Be organized and complete tasks with a focus on quality, schedule and budget.

  • Maintain and develop client relationships.

  • Technically expertise in oil and gas, hydrogen, carbon capture and biomass facilities would be an asset.

  • Undergraduate degree in chemical engineering.

  • Currently registered as P.Eng in a Canadian province.

  • Experience with HYSIM/HYSIS or Promax software packages an asset.

  • Strong project management and discipline lead skills.

  • Strong inter-personal skills to assist project delivery with complex teams, and with mentoring and training colleagues.

  • Experienced in business development and building client relationships.

  • Experienced with project management and project delivery according to quality standards.

  • Proven record of independently leading successful projects.
