Mentor Technical Group Metrology Laboratory Administrator in Caguas, Puerto Rico

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising ISO 17025 compliant calibration and stress analysis laboratory.

  • Supervise Metrology Technicians staff.

  • Cares of primary and secondary Instruments Standard for compliance to Calibration Department.

  • Execute calibration department work plan to insure timely completion of all test and calibration work orders/documentation to quality requirements.

  • Supervise laboratory personnel, planning, organizing and monitoring calibration assignments and ensuring work expectations for scope, schedule, cost and responsiveness.

  • Develops and evaluates calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and derived units of physical or chemical measure: Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms.

  • Maintain all calibration standards. (Laboratory, field calibration and resident standards)

  • Monitor the environmental conditions of the laboratory.

  • Maintain and be accountable of ISO 17025 Calibration Quality System requirements.

  • Administrate monthly random uncertainty testing and Proficiency testing

  • Issue corrective actions as outlined in ISO 17025

  • Consistently align procedures vs. actual processes

  • Develop new test procedures, establish template calibration certificates and implement the control of all documents as part of QMS.

  • Continuously improve on-time delivery to 100% for customers by reducing test/calibration time

  • Assist in Calibration Department work overflow, sales department quoting and technical support with prospective customers. Identify expansion of services opportunities; source calibration work instructions, required standards and training required. In conjunction with company Management Team establish revenue goals, cost saving plans and asset requirements for department.

  • Provide clients the best consulting services, building strong relationships based on excellence, commitment and mutual respect foreseeing new opportunities and challenges encouraging an open dialog and trustful communication between both parties.

  • Models company values and ethical behavior in all relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Strictly follow company’s Safety, cGMP’s, Policies and Procedures.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor to support normal operations.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications Requirements/Knowledge/Education/Skills:

  • B.S. in Science or Engineering is preferred

  • Associate degree in Metrology, Instrumentation/Calibration or Engineering discipline. 

  • A minimum of ten (10) years related experience in Metrology and Calibration discipline.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipment's, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • He / she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
