Hoist Operator

$27/hr, Burnaby, BC

Job Description

Join our team as a Hoist Operator for a major construction project, the Tall Timber Student Housing at the Burnaby Campus. This pivotal role involves operating a construction elevator, ensuring the safe transport of people and materials across different levels of a 12-story mass-timber building. Your day will start early at 6:45 AM, operating the hoist from 7:00 AM, and your responsibilities include managing the controls to navigate the floors, using an intercom for communication, and maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the hoist and work area during downtime.

Skills Requirements:

• Operation of construction elevators

• Use of intercom systems (eg. Walkie Talkies)

• TSBC Hoist Operator ticket

Work Environment

The work location is at the BCIT Burnaby Campus. Please note that parking is available on-site, with a daily fee ranging from $5 to $10. Work hours are from 6:45 AM to 4:00 PM, with opportunity for OT.
