M&T Bank Sales Resource Writer Team Lead - Investment Management (Hybrid) in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Manages and individually contributes to a team responsible for responding to request for proposals (RFPs), due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and presentations while developing other sales support materials to generate new business and retain clients across all business lines. This Writer/Team Lead would predominantly work on asset management and wealth management requests particularly complex institutional investment management opportunities.

Location: This position is hybrid with a preferred location of Baltimore, MD, Radnor, PA, or Wilmington, DE. We are open to other large centers in the footprint such as Bridgeport, CT, Buffalo, NY or Williston, VT for the right candidate to work on a hybrid model.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interact with sales teams, Relationship Managers, Investment Advisors, Product Managers, Performance Team, Subject Matter Experts and Senior Management to support creation and development of winning proposals and presentations to prospects and clients.

  • Lead relationships with Legal and Compliance to ensure developed materials are fully compliant with all related laws and regulations.

  • Maintain ownership of all assigned projects through sales cycle, including meeting all deadlines.

  • Manage and/or ensure internal reporting is complete and accurate for deal flow.

  • Participate in projects related to strategic initiatives of the Firm.

  • Partner with Marketing to ensure consistent messaging and brand delivery, inclusive of the material developed.

  • Make suggestions on process improvements and efficiencies drivers with data and analytics.

  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The incumbent works independently under limited supervision and requires substantial interaction with internal and external contacts to obtain pertinent information. The position serves in partnership with others within the Business Unit as well as the Sales Resource Team.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience

Minimum of 2 years’ work leadership, supervisory and/or managerial experience

Detail-oriented

Experience multi-tasking, balancing competing priorities while adhering to to strict deadlines

Superior verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency with pertinent word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software

Prior experience working independently and collaboratively

Prior experience being highly flexible and adaptive to change

Prior experience creating presentations and other sales proposal materials that pointedly respond to identified client needs

Experience in financial and technical writing

Highly organized, team player

Education and Experience Preferred:

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)

Minimum of 5 years’ proposal writing experience

Minimum of 3 years’ managerial experience

Asset management and institutional investment management industry knowledge

Proven project management skills

Proven time management skills

Self-starter with ability to recognize and implement new initiatives when needed

Prior experience working with senior management

Solid understanding of financial industry/investment management products and services

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $93,614.36 - $156,023.93 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
