Job Description:The Systems Administrator-Consultant provides leadership and direction for Systems administration activities and individuals. Performs administration and provides operational support for corporate systems including hardware and OS system availability, performance tuning, installation, security, and troubleshooting. Consultant-level professional experienced in all aspects of Systems administration. Encompasses full knowledge required within the systems specialty area. Functions independently with minimal oversight and direction. Provides technical and professional guidance and leadership to peers.

Performs activities related to the corporate-wide administration of computerizeddatabase infrastructures, including defining, organizing, securing, ensuring efficiency, documenting, determining long term requirements and operational guidelines. Provides operational services which maximize system availability (high-availability and system recovery), enhance security and optimize error-free processes and job cycles. Maintains strong security profiles with application of industry best practices, consistent patching, updates and audit log assessments. Provides responsive, high-quality customer support to resolve customer problems and respond to questions. Interacts with other internal application teams and systems groups, to triage and diagnose, identify root causes, troubleshoot database alerts and issues related to assigned databases or areas. Makes recommendations and assists in performance tuning and implementing corrective actions. Provides direction, coordination, guidance, and technical support and expertise related to the installation and implementation of all new instances and services and upgrades to existing database systems. Serves as the master level technical subject matter expert related to assigned databases or areas. Manages and organizes assigned projects with medium to large scopes. Leads project efforts. Manages the completion of DBA work, meeting deadlines, and providing deliverables to the customer. Schedules and facilitates meetings as necessary to complete assignments. Mentors and trains other DBA staff to improve their skills and prepare them for more responsibility. Assigns and monitors progress for DBA teams tasks and projects. Sets team work priorities. Participates with technical teams to identify and clarify strategy, address gaps, define and execute related policy/procedures and pursues improvement opportunities. Assesses current and emerging database technology features and advocates, plans and implements database centric solutions based on customer needs. Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or Information Systems. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Four years equivalent technical experience in systems administration or related technical field.

Preferred Master's Degree preferred Oracle or Microsoft Database Administration Certifications preferred Five (5) years experience with Microsoft or Oracle database technologies utilizing high availability and disaster recovery methodologies in an enterprise environment preferred Familiarity with very large database operations, data warehouse extract transform and load (ETL) environments Familiar with Epic Cogito Clarity Reporting database ETL environments Familiarity working with developer teams Experience in the healthcare industry

Database Management Software: Oracle and/or Microsoft last 3 major product release versions, vendor specific backup and recovery methodologies, vendor specific install/upgrade and configuration best practices, database lifecycle management tools required. Experience with vendor specific logical volume managers and storage technologies is requir d. Operating Systems Configuration/Management: UNIX , Linux, Microsoft Windows operating environments, file systems, local or network storage device usage, and Shell batch programming and scripting required. Industry best practices and/or standards for database builds and configurations LAN/WAN networking principles and knowledge and business and management principles preferred. Regular attendance to perform work on site or at approved remote locations during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required. Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation schedules. Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.
