Program Description:

The Graham SLAM (Support, Lead, Achieve, Model) program works with youth between the 9th grade and age 26 who are in Graham Windham’s programs including foster care, foster care prevention and community-based afterschool programs. The program aims to put youth on a livable wage path by focusing on their success in high school, college, and career development. The program ‘sticks with’ youth through age 26, or until they are on a living wage career path.

Principal Objective/Role Overview:

The Employment Success Coordinator will support SLAM youth in developing a pathway to employment success. They will develop and maintain long-term, cooperative working relationships with private, public, and community employment partners in collaboration with the Graham SLAM team. They will also assist program participants in internship placements and career-oriented employment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work one on one with youth to create and manage their Workforce Pathways while building critical skills to set youth on a path to successful employment and a living wage career

  • Develop and maintain an internal job bank of placements for employment, internships, and community service/volunteer opportunities with employers in the private and public sector for youth in the Graham SLAM program and coordinate SYEP initiatives on a yearly basis.

  • Maintain data entry on a monthly basis around applications, interviews, job placements, interests, career goals, and employment outcomes of program youth. Manage additional reporting including entering required data into the Care4 database and SharePoint.

  • Stay up to date with job market information that affects youth employment trends and utilize this data for best practices and techniques to better serve and match youth participants between jobs and internships.

  • Develop and maintain long-term, cooperative working relationships with private, public, and community partners who provide effective and/or cost-free workforce training, employment, or vocational opportunities for youth

  • Attend ACS Education and Employment workshops, Fair Futures meetings and training related to the workforce field

  • Creatively recruit, increase retention and maintain strong participant attendance at workforce related workshops, internships and other job-related opportunities. This includes serving as the lead or co-lead person for the Career Club and providing support to SLAM staff who facilitate workshops.

  • Develop and coordinate networking opportunities and career exposure events, including but not limited to field trips and relevant workshops.

  • Travel to multiple service sites within the program, primarily in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan

  • Perform other related duties as required by Supervisor.

  • Work with diverse populations (including LGBTQ) and cultures, process information and respond empathically.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred

  • Two years of experience in workforce development

  • Computer literate and conversant with social media

    Salary & Compensation:

  • Base Salary or Hourly Rate: $31.60/hour ($57,500.00/year)

  • FLSAStatus: Non-Exempt
