Fedcap Employment Services Manager in Bronx, New York

JOB SUMMARY

The Employment Services Manager, as part of the Career Services Youth Pathways team, is responsible for providing oversight and management to the Career Advisor, the Alternative Engagement Specialist, the Job Development Team, and the Retention. This position will work alongside the Deputy Directors for Fedcap’s Youth Pathways programs to ensure the successful implementation of processes to ensure job readiness, seamless transitions, successful referrals, and enrollments of participants. The Employment Services Supervisor will oversee and provide daily management to staff in Youth Pathways Bronx.

They are responsible for ensuring the job developers are creating and growing relationships with local companies with hiring needs to facilitate placing individuals. The Employment Services Manager is also responsible for growing and creating relationships and creating quarterly business development plans with their team outlining activities in target sectors and monitoring job placements. Under the direction of the Employment Services Manager, the team will be responsible for the ongoing implementation of the business development plan and strategic planning to achieve placement goals. Additional responsibilities include monitoring employment retention and ensuring the capture of retention milestones.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides day-to-day supervision and management of all job readiness, Alternative engagement, job development, and retention staff.

  • Develops and maintains a strategic and effective plan for job readiness, Alternative Engagement, Business Development, job placement, and retention.

  • Provides clear and concise goals to Job/Business Developers, Career Advisors, Career Coach/Retention staff, and Alternative Engagement Specialists to ensure the effectiveness of the services provided to participants and meet our contractual goals.

  • Establishes best practices across all departments to meet Alternative Engagement enrollment and completion goals and job placement goals.

  • Ensures professional standards of Job Development are maintained.

  • Monitors and ensures compliance is maintained by all direct reports.

  • Coordinates job development services by setting priorities, outlining Business Development methods, and setting priorities.

  • Develops strategies to increase job placement and quality of job placements.

  • Ensures Job Developers are coordinating monthly onsite or virtual hiring events that match the sectors of interest of job-ready candidates.

  • Evaluates staff’s performance through informal and formal evaluations.

  • Identifies staff training needs and ensures training is obtained.

  • Ensures staff maintain up-to-date progress and performance notes on all participants adhering to documentation guidelines and expectations.

  • Provides oversight to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of NYC HRA

  • Ensures that all required statistical data and reports are prepared accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Hires, supervises, evaluates, develops, and terminates assigned staff to ensure staff is productive and motivated.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, Education, or a similar field or comparable work-related experience.

  • 2 years of supervisory/management experience preferably in workforce development.

  • Experience and/or a demonstrated desire to work with the economically disadvantaged, homeless, and/or public assistance recipients’ populations.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple priorities, and excel in a team environment.
