POSITION DETAILS
The Hostos Research Center (HRC) was established at Hostos Community College in 2022 through the Ms. MacKenzie Scott’s Gift and as part of the President’s initiatives to advance the development of new faculty and staff-led research projects, faculty-student mentorship, and the creation of student research internships. The mission of the HRC is to foster a culture of research and grants development and to enhance students’ access to professional experiences . HRC’s mission is also aligned with the College's mission to provide opportunities for intellectual growth , socio-economic mobility, and to develop the proficiencies needed for lifelong learning and success . The HRC is also supported by the active engagement of the Hostos C ommittee on S ponsored P rograms and G rants ( CSPG ).
The Administrative Coordinator will report directly to the Research Programs Director in the Hostos Community College Research Center. Under direction, this position will provide administrative and fiscal operations support of Hostos Research Center initiatives and additional programs/events implemented under the Ms. MacKenzie Scott’s Gift: President’s Initiatives including Mentor/Mentee Jobs on Campus, Educating for Diversity, NextGen Public Health Scholars and others. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties (this list is not all inclusive):
· Provides front desk and administrative support to engage students, faculty, and staff in the Hostos Research Center programs and the activities of the Ms. MacKenzie Scott’s Gift: President’s Initiatives.
· Maintains current information in print materials and provides updates for the Hostos website about the Hostos Research Center and Ms. MacKenzie Scott’s Gift: President’s Initiatives to support student, faculty, and staff engagement.
· Maintains and updates relevant participation data for the Hostos Research Center and other President’s Initiatives.
· Organizes and maintains a variety of administrative and program records and files including marketing and promotional materials.
· Responsible for submitting payment requests, purchase orders; processes invoices; responsible for fiscal record keeping; prepares expense reports.
· Provides support to students completing hiring/onboarding paperwork for Mentor/Mentee Jobs on Campus and Hostos Research Center student research assistant programs as needed.
· Assists in grant preparation and research administration duties related to invoice processing and submitting expense reports.
· Serves as a liaison between the President’s Office, Office of Administration, Procurement, Business Office, Accounts Payable, and outside vendors to ensure accurate fiscal procedures and processing.
· Assists the Research Programs Director and Hostos Research Center Co-Director in the preparation of materials for the Hostos Research Center internal grant review committee for ADELANTE and IDEAS grants.
· Assists in the coordination of Hostos Research Center events including recruitment activities, open house sessions, special research presentations/conferences, professional development events, and program outreach efforts.
· Supports special projects as needed. Other related duties as assigned.
Note: Essential duties require on-campus presence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
The following qualifications are preferred:
· At least one-year experience providing administrative support in an education, public service or other related professional setting.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate day-to-day projects and assignments with attention to detail.
· Outstanding oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills and comfort working with faculty, staff, and students at all levels.
· Ability to work collaboratively and independently on multiple related projects in a student-centered environment.
· Excellent problem solving and data management skills.
· Strong computer skills and knowledge of standard office software programs and applications (Microsoft Office required) including email and calendar programs.
· Interest in supporting linguistically, culturally and academically diverse students is a plus.

Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.
Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
May supervise office staff and student workers.
Performs related duties as assigned.

$44,411 - $49,960; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
