The Opportunity

KBR have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accountant to join the Brisbane finance team. The role offers long term career development opportunities and will expose you to a range of projects across the Australian KBR business.

We are looking for a switched on, motivated individual with 5+ years of experience wanting to take the next step in their career to a more senior role. It is important that you have a strong technical accounting background with a good knowledge of accounting standards. With your solid skill set you will lead the accounting for one of the business streams within the business and partner with the business for success.

KBR is a rapidly growing engineering consultancy with a reputation for delivering some of the most complex engineering solutions in the world.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage the Project Accounting function for a business stream within the Infrastructure business, including accurate reporting for projects, identification and resolution of issues, analysis of costs and assistance to project teams where required

  • Develop a partnership with key personnel within the business stream to assist the business to develop and achieve its goals. Provide value added financial services, analysis and support to the business stream, as required

  • Assist the business to update its forecasts and budgets and to partner with the business to assist in meeting its goals.

  • Completion of month end close processes, identification and resolution of issues, labour and other cost accounting analysis and preparation of management reports.

  • Provide support throughout the project lifecycle, from the early stages of the bid process, through execution to project close out

  • Actively support Joint Ventures by preparing financial statements, where required, and provide oversight to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures

  • Support in providing information for the audit process and for the preparation of statutory accounts, as required.

  • Balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, as required.

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you require 5+ years’ experience in a related field along with a degree qualification in Finance/accounting. You must have strong communication skills and experience with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics or other large ERP system an advantage

Other requirements include:

  • Professional organisation membership – CA or CPA

  • Strong IT skills and experience using Power BI and digital applications an advantage.
