SCL Health Emergency Dept Tech EMT PRN in Brighton, Colorado

Job Description:This position is responsible for providing both basic and advanced life support to patients in an efficient, knowledgeable and cost effective manner, which is accurately documented and properly coordinated with other health care personnel.

PRN

Scope Obtains patients vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse and temperature and understands normal ranges and changes. Informs RNs or Physician of changes in vital signs. Collects blood, urine, saliva and stool samples for laboratory analysis. Inserts Foley catheters, performs straight catheters, provides wound care. Fits patients for casts and/or hard splints, crutches and other devices. Performs 12-lead EKGs. Provides instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on patients. Assists with the safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe patient handling. Assists with admitting patients into the ER, schedules patient transfers, reinforces patient education/discharge instructions as given by the RN. Apply, check and document restraints as directed by the RN or Physician. Performs the duties of unit secretary. Maintains patient charts, responds to phone calls, maintains daily assignment board, provides equipment care/cleaning, performs errands associated with patient care and provides accurate information about the patient with interdisciplinary team. Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by Service Behavior Standards. Demonstrates and adheres to the standards of infection prevention. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. Follows principals and upholds the Standards of Infection Prevention. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Minimum Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of Basic EMT training program or Paramedic Training is required in the state of practice Current Basic EMT or Paramedic license in state of practice is required Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS- HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval Current IV Certification in state of practice is required

Preferred One (1) year of related experience

Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others. .. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.
