We are currently searching for a highly motivated, results-focused Sr. Director/Director, Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Marketing. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our marketing strategy to support our planned product launch in Type 1 Diabetes - which will be an exciting and significant value driver for the organization, while also demonstrating our corporate values of Integrity, Innovation, Respect, Transparency, and Ownership.

Job Summary:

The Sr. Director/Director, T1D Marketing plays a pivotal leadership role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives. This position is responsible for leading the definition, design, execution, and measurement of Lexicon's brand strategy. These strategies will focus on across health care professionals who are involved in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes, and consumers. The position will be a key member of the marketing team and commercial organization and will work closely with Brand and Portfolio peers/teams, Sales, Commercial Operations, Medical, Value & Access, and Finance teams.

This position will report to the VP, Marketing. This position will be based out of our Bridgewater, NJ location with partial remote work opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction, design, execution and measurement of all HCP and consumer-oriented marketing strategies, tactics and activities to deliver on the brand's objectives.
  • Define and design the brand launch strategy based on deep market insights.
  • Develop and refine promotional messages for personal and non-personal engagements.
  • Develop in collaboration with the Director of Omnichannel Marketing the brand's digital strategy and tactical plan as well as non-personal promotion strategy and plan.
  • Partner closely with sales teams to engage Field Sales around brand opportunities and mission, monitor performance, ensure message pull through and uncover opportunities and issues in execution.
  • Develop and manage KOL and Advisory Board programs.
  • Collaborate with Value & Access team to contribute to a brand value story that resonates with payors.
  • Allocate, manage, and measure promotional budget according to strategic choices.
  • Assess the investment viability in innovative brand programs, using sensitivity analysis, spend/sales scenario planning, and ROI variables to gauge risk and go/no-go decisions.
  • Collaborate across Lexicon to engage with professional societies to ensure we meet the needs of customers across disciplines.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to ensure promotional planning is consistent with legal/regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise the Associate Director, T1D Marketing, to execute on tactical plans that align to the brand strategy.
  • Along with the Associate Director, T1D Marketing, create sustainable, long-term relationships with thought leader advocates and customer advocacy groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in business, marketing or the sciences required.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industries.
  • 8+ years of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Promotions experience.
  • Strong track record of delivering impactful marketing strategies and plans, including positioning, message development, and tailoring/targeting materials for different platforms and audiences.
  • Experience managing creative and media agencies.
  • Experience within launch and early brand lifecycle is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to follow processes and work with regulatory, legal and compliance departments.
  • Proven track record of consistent achievement or overachievement delivering strategic and operational plans within a therapeutic or business area.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess and drive results; budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a quickly changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate brand strategy to key stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proven team player with ability to collaborate across functional areas and to work effectively with senior management, internal and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond flexibly to shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in business or marketing
  • Demonstrated pharmaceutical product launch experience
  • Diabetes experience preferred
  • Pharmaceutical sales experience
  • Direct experience leading and managing a team
  • Strong understanding of local healthcare system pricing and reimbursement
  • CRM, digital, and social media marketing experience
  • Experience across product life cycle (emerging, launch, in-line, mature)
