Principal Systems Engineer

Ability to travel up to : 25% Domestic and International

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Spearhead technical planning of system architecture definition and integration with an emphasis on software development.

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses at all levels of the total system, emphasizing software interface analysis and requirement tracing at key development stages.

  • Support investigation and refinement of backlog needs for existing systems with bench testing and software reviews.

  • Navigate technical constraints while identifying and ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards in medical device software development, security, and maintenance.

  • Conduct advanced functional analysis, requirements allocation, and interface definition activities, with a strong emphasis on translating customer requirements into precise software requirements.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering

  • Minimum of 7 years of systems engineering experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years systems engineering experience

Nice to Have

  • Strong background in systems engineering, with hands-on experience in integrating complex software systems.

  • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and standards in the medical device industry, particularly in cybersecurity.

  • Knowledgeable in debugging and troubleshooting existing systems and their software behavior to develop scope for improvement projects.

  • Experience working with medical professionals to discuss needs and customer complaints.

  • Expert in translating user needs to system level requirements and further decomposition down to software specifications

  • Knowledgeable in tools to help with requirements decomposition and interface identification

  • Proven ability to identify, study, and leverage use conditions to develop robust system and software designs

  • Familiar with application of comprehensive test methods and reliability best practices in software development

  • Demonstrated leadership in leading and managing cross-functional teams in software-enabled projects.

  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with software and system integration.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization

  • Experience and capability of working with global and/or remote team members

  • Ability to work on concurrent projects and be able to successfully manage time and priorities

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
