ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Flatirons Bank serves as an escrow agent and account administrator for handling Qualified Settlement Funds (“QSFs”). A QSF is an account used as a settlement mechanism to receive funds from one or more defendants after a lawsuit or legal claim is resolved. This arrangement provides plaintiffs and their attorneys with the time and flexibility to develop a suitable distribution plan.
The Escrow Officer position serves an important role for the Bank, with a primary focus on ensuring the bank delivers upon its primary value proposition of providing an exceptional client experience and operational excellence in administrating its Qualified Settlement Fund product. The individual in this position will be an important face of the Bank and will have regular interaction with attorneys and other law firm business managers and will be responsible for ensuring that QSF accounts are administered in accordance with policies and procedures. The specific responsibilities are further outlined below:
Client (Attorney) Relations
Ensure the bank provides sincere and meaningful interactions with attorneys and law firms, both directly and through leadership in administering the QSF product on a consistent and ongoing basis.
Conducts interviews with attorney clients to gather information, verifies the identity of new clients, assesses the necessity and scope of reference checks, and aids clients in the onboarding process onto the Justice Escrow platform.
Provides effective client service by answering client questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems or other issues.
Engages in discussions, prepares, and facilitates the setup of attorneys and associated parties for electronic access on the Justice Escrow platform.
Utilize the bank’s CRM to appropriately track QSF opportunities from initial meeting to close.
Cross-sells the Bank’s other products and services (primarily deposit and treasury management products), referring attorney clients to appropriate staff as indicated.
QSF Administration
Promotes successful QSF administration by providing superior client service, accurate and complete escrow administration, and ensuring that all operational expectations are being met in the administration of QSF accounts.
Communicate with attorney clients, settlement brokers, and other law firm agents to obtain necessary information and documentation.
Review and analyze settlement statements, court documents (with the assistance of the VP/Corporate Counsel), and attorney instructions to prepare escrow documentation.
Review and approve distribution requests according to escrow instructions and applicable policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records and files of all escrow transactions and ensure the complete retention of all QSF file documentation within the Justice Escrow platform.
Resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the escrow process.
Serve as a backup for various functions related to administering QSF accounts such as: processing new account requests, opening the deposit accounts, providing client notification of when the account has been opened and when it has been fund, process distribution requests, assess account fees, and assist with processing the sub accounting entries.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Adheres to Bank policies, government regulations and legal requirements.
Performs other operational duties as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or three years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Three or more years of experience in banking or escrow services
Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in escrow services
Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and communicate clearly to attorney clients and bank employees.
Ability to address and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Intermediate computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office products as well as Bank or Escrow accounting and documentation software programs

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The position’s pay range is anywhere between $65,000 - $80,000
