Actalent Engineering Technician in Boulder, Colorado

Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

As an Engineering Technician, you will build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify prototype/developmental and production electronic and optical systems, working independently or under the direction of electrical or optical engineers. Your responsibilities will include performing board level electronics repair, surface mount component replacement, assisting engineers and scientists in creating and testing products/processes, and conducting electrical, mechanical, and optical assembly of company products and prototypes. You will also perform unit assembly tests, calibrations, and conduct failure analysis of electro-optic systems to ensure that quality standards are met, and participate in cross-functional R&D projects to ensure project deliverables.

Hard Skills

  • Strong knowledge of lasers, optical alignment, and opto-electronics

  • Hands-on experience with electro-optical/metrology laboratory equipment such as LDM cameras, beam profilers, spectrophotometers, power meters, oscilloscopes, wave meters, digital multimeters

  • Testing and troubleshooting for electrical components/electronics

  • Electrical rework of PCBs, wire harness

  • Surface mount rework

  • Troubleshooting tools including multimeters, laser power meters, flow meters

Soft Skills

  • Strong appreciation for the importance of laser safety

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Boulder, Colorado.

Work Environment

Onsite 5 days a week in a team of 4 other technicians and a manager. You will operate a brand new piece of R&D equipment focusing on liquid instrumentation.
