Welcome! Micron's Wafer Level Packaging Technology Development group is seeking a Photo Process Development Engineer to join a growing team of Technology Development (TD) engineers responsible for developing, characterizing, and transferring manufacturing capable solutions for future interconnect and wafer level processing applications.

As a Photolithography Engineer in Micron's R&D group, you are authority for lithography process module development for memory devices, applying your expertise at multiple functional levels advising both direct and parallel management of critical process selection decisions. You will be a domain expert in overlay and overlay metrology and use your expertise to optimize overlay and develop roadmaps for wafer bonding overlay, as well as lithography overlay post-bonding. In this position, you will lead projects and work with Micron engineers, technology partners and vendors to develop unit processes that meet/exceed requirements for next-generation semiconductors, solving sophisticated problems to ensure successful integration to existing processes as part of our team, and ultimately provide technology transfers to Micron’s worldwide manufacturing network! Additionally, you will address process issues with pilot line manufacturing and work on continuous improvements for manufacturability. Sophisticated process development tasks will include performing material evaluations; reticle, layout and OPC development; process window analysis; and overlay optimization. You will detail key innovations in applications for patents and provide reports which may be published in technical journals or conferences. Other responsibilities include standardizing new process and methods for fan out to Manufacturing Fabs and training/mentoring of junior engineers. This position is being offered in Boise, ID.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Must possess engineering knowledge of semiconductor advanced packaging processes. Experience with semiconductor process development is preferred.

· Experience with chemical processes specific to lithography, including various materials used in substrate preparation and coated materials for use in 365 nm, 248 nm, 193nm, and EUV lithography.

· Solid understanding of lithography overlay including metrology techniques related to overlay.

· Familiarity with wafer bonding, fusion and hybrid bonding, and understanding of wafer bonding overlay.

  • Understanding of the challenges of lithography processes and lithography

overlay on a bonded wafer.

· Skilled at crafting valid tests and Design of Experiments (DOE)

· Excellent data collection, organization, and analysis skills

· Proficient in data analysis techniques/programs.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently (highly self-motivated)

· Work efficiently in a group as leader and a contributor.

· Knowledge and an understanding of project management.

· Understanding of optics including the principles and application of immersion lithography, polarized illumination, and low k1 imaging.

· Understanding of wafer-to-wafer bonding and bonding overlay.

· Your studies or work includes experience with lithography simulation software and application to state of art high resolution imaging.

· Possess skills and experience with material properties and characterization techniques in development of photolithography processes.

· Strong curiosity about research and development and ability to generate production-worthy technologies.

· Ability to develop and handle relationships with diverse teams and suppliers. You are possessing high emotional intelligence and savvy.

· You are driven and hardworking to understand or can demonstrate knowledge of common memory chip architectures and the required process steps applied to build

  • You a strong and effective communicator both in verbal, listening, and written form. We thrive with clear and effective communication to solve sophisticated problems.

· You can use statistics and model-based problem solving to find solutions to problems. Experience with python and statistics software, such as JMP, strongly preferred.

Education:

  • Master of Science or Ph.D in a semiconductor-related field, such as physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, optics, electrical or electronics engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, or related field.
