Job Purpose:

Analyzes, coordinates, pursues, and manages vendor recoveries and warranty failure avoidance opportunities as pertaining to specific or global failure issues. Coordinates / performs root cause analysis and champions corrective action. Aligns returned parts with product quality improvement efforts. Provides reports to aid in the analysis of product warranty failure data.

What Will You Do?  

Assist Warranty Analyst I in analyzing and processing warranty claims to ensure accuracy and timely processing within Warranty and Policy Procedure parameters. Pursue warranty recovery and cost avoidance opportunities.

  • Investigate issues where supplier recoveries are not being realized due to issue non-acceptance and take action.

  • Identify supplier product global performance. Evaluate and pursue recovery and cost avoidance opportunities.

  • Evaluate global product component and repair performance. Report issues to appropriate product groups.

  • Participate in product teams pursuing product improvement or issue resolution.

Monitor supplier recovery systems to ensure proper receipt of recoveries. Collaborate with Sourcing in negotiating Supplier Warranty Agreements to meet Toro requirements. Negotiate supplier recovery responsibility levels for product rework and supplier issue corrective action. Collaborate with Data Analyst to develop Microsoft Power BI reports to enable statistical analysis of warranty data as it relates to and supports quality analysis, root cause analysis and warranty recovery. Collaborate with Data Analyst to develop warranty audit methods that identify errors and misapplication of Warranty Policy. Improve the visibility of potential vendor recovery opportunities by collaborating with the appropriate individuals or teams. Manage RGA receiving staff, physical RGA storage, and disposition. Obtain warranty parts for root cause analysis and align returned parts with product quality improvement efforts.

  • Involve Technical Product Managers, Engineering, Product Teams, & Supplier in issue investigation.

  • Perform preliminary root cause analysis and report findings. Organize teams to pursue corrective action,

  • Engage with supplier

Maintain communication with assigned business unit Technical Service, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering, and Manufacturing. Monitor effectiveness and completeness of service fixes, quality updates, and safety reworks through statistical analysis of warranty data. Collaborate with appropriate business unit teams to analyze data, identify quality trends, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions. Ensure warranty accrual estimates are calculated for potential/deployed field corrective actions. Validate estimate information. Provide Business Unit Management and Toro Finance with documentation as needed. Provide monthly warranty expense and warranty performance reporting. Perform other duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

   

What Do You Need?  

The job position requires a high degree of interaction with persons in technical positions both internal and external and requires the individual to have excellent technical knowledge and experience with mechanical systems such as engines, hydraulics, and electrical. A high degree of focus in measurement of warranty performance data and warranty failure analysis is required. Evaluating failed parts and performing preliminary root cause failure analysis (RCA) and RCA reporting is in task scope. Negotiating warranty recoveries and responsibility levels with suppliers associated with warranty failures is important to the job function.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an industrial or technical discipline or experience equivalent.

  • 3+ years’ experience with statistical analysis and measurement and has worked with related systems and software.

  • Power-user of reporting systems with capability in the development and design of warranty reports for assigned business unit use.

  • Has had a high degree of technical interface with Sourcing, product development, Engineering, and Technical Service support.

  • Strong root cause analysis / 6 Sigma skills

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with supplier negotiations.

  • Experience in the management of warranty recovery efforts and attaining warranty recoveries.

  • Experience in the development and management of failure rate measurement and analysis.

  • Possess working knowledge of technical repair practices and service shop operations.

  • Good mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of engines, hydraulics, and repair procedures.

  • Experience with providing training and work direction to less experienced staff members

Other Job-Related Components:

  • Annual travel requirement to 20%.

  • International travel may be required at times, must be able to hold a US Passport.
