TITLE: Senior Specialist, Controls Assurance
Under the direction of Audit Management, this position functions as a working audit project manager, responsible for planning, performing, communicating issues and progress, and reporting results, individually or sometimes within a team. The Senior Specialist will support Guardian's Model Audit Rule (MAR) certification of internal control over statutory financial reporting, PwC Direct Assistance, and any other IA initiative. Responsibilities include internal controls testing, execution on core services (i.e., risk assessment and scoping, documentation, remediation, and certification), support stakeholders throughout the MAR program, etc.
The Senior Specialist may interface with stakeholders from across business and functional areas. They must possess the professionalism to lead and/or participate in these discussions! Further, the Senior Specialist must be knowledgeable about MAR regulation, have strong organizational skills, adhere to budgets and schedules, and possess the confidence to establish clear expectations prior to commencing work.
You Will:
Lead and implement MAR program (risk assessment, scoping, testing, roll forward, etc) in accordance with established regulations. This includes:
Developing an understanding of management’s processes
Use data collection skills to acquire an understanding of the process, risks, and controls
Under direct supervision, formulating and executing audit procedures that test key controls
Under direct supervision, drafting valuable deliverables, and communicating results to business management
Spearheading work to complete on time and within budget
Communicate and establish relationships with business areas assigned.
Work with other members of the IA team to leverage their skill sets, experience and expertise; provide same.
Implement PwC direct assistance testing for select assignments.
Support advisory or ad hoc projects.
Stay abreast of current issues and obtain continuing education and training.
You Have:
Validated experience in internal audit, external audit or related functions.
Knowledge of Model Audit Rule regulations.
Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is helpful, but not required.
Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
Solid written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
Solid interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and clearly articulate thoughts and ideas.
Ability to work independently, as well as in teams.
Solid analytical skills, with the ability to effectively analyze a process and assess risks and controls.
Solid organizational skills, with the ability to handle concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
Adaptable to changing priorities.
Ability to collaborate with others, both inside and outside of the department, while working toward common goals and fostering understanding and agreement.
Develop relationships within business areas.
Bachelor’s degree required (accounting or business degree is a plus)
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) accreditation attained or in progress.
Professional certifications (CPA, CFE, CISA, etc.), licenses, or designations is a strong plus.

Salary Range
$66,130.00 - $108,640.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
