Pennoni Associates Inc Civil Engineering Manager - Land Development in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

We are seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Leader / Senior Project Manager to lead our Land Development team on a full-time, direct basis at our Lehigh Valley office in Bethlehem, PA.  This person will lead multi-discipline design projects for public & private site development with a variety of markets (e.g.:  warehousing, industrial, healthcare, education, office, commercial, residential, hospitality, energy, infrastructure, etc.).  This person will also be expected to oversee our staff in all aspects of projects (including conceptual/planning, preliminary and final design, construction documentation, and permitting).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Oversee the preparation of civil/site engineering designs & plans for local, county, and state approval and permitting; this includes coordinating with staff to complete projects effectively.
  • Apply knowledge of design standards to develop the most cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Provide solutions to complex issues; this includes documenting solutions in an organized manner, and then effectively communicating them to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective project development by setting appropriate budgetary constraints, filing project data, meeting design criteria / client requirements, and assuring that work has been completed (including review by competent personnel and a thorough QA/QC process) prior to being delivered to the client.
  • Lead meetings with clients and provide updates on project status.
  • Contribute to Business Development efforts by identifying (and helping to secure) new clients while retaining our existing clientele; this includes assisting with the preparation of proposals as well as nurturing existing client relationships.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies as well as clients; this includes participating in off-site meetings (such as attending evening project meetings in order to obtain municipal approval).
  • Provide mentorship / guidance to the existing team while simultaneously exploring on-going team building and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with office administration staff to assist with office operations.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

     

Basic Requirements:

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline.
  • Active License credential in PA.
  • 12+ years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with design, construction, and/or land development projects).

     

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Proven leadership skills; Management and/or Project Management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise with residential and commercial development projects.
  • Proven expertise with Water Resources engineering, including stormwater management [SWM] design & permitting.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, project management software, etc.); understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
  • Experience with building and/or maintaining client relationships; Business Development experience is plus.
  • Proven ability to display strategic and tactical decision-making skills simultaneously; this person needs to be able to look at the "big picture" in relation to project goals in order to coordinate various design disciplines accordingly.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated demeanor while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
