Philips Sr. Manager Quality Laboratory in Best, Netherlands

At the Innovation Campus in Best, Philips has an inhouse, ISO 17025 certified test laboratory to support various business units with independent norm compliance testing services: in addition to calibration services (CMS) for monitoring and measurement tooling. In this role, you represent the Quality Laboratory’s (QLAB) management in contact and communication with external notified bodies and regulatory agencies. You will facilitate and contribute to the creation and implementation of plans to continuously develop and improve the organization, its processes and services. You will be part of the global Philips Quality organization and will be reporting within the Design Quality team for our IGT-Systems.

Your role:

  • You will lead a group of skilled QLAB Test Engineers; supervise testing and authorize test reports to ensure that the integrity of the test results is maintained

  • Formulates and controls, in consultation with the QLAB’s Management Team, the laboratory’s quality policy, objectives and procedures

  • Organizes, prepares and chairs management reviews

  • Ensures that applicable compliance test standards are kept up to date

  • Develop and implement a long term QLAB strategy (vision and required resources) that is aligned with developments in Safety Testing Standards, various business’ needs and opportunities.

  • Keeps abreast to technical and organizational developments in own professional field and maintains contacts with other test laboratories; and alignment with labs in other locations.

  • Continually improves the effectiveness of the management system and test processes including laboratory activities and customer service

  • Host and manage the yearly assessments of the QLABs certification agencies

  • Makes sure that competent third party suppliers perform the calibration of equipment that is being used for tests and measurements by the QLAB

  • Manages a team of 10-15 direct reports; formulates the goals with respect to the education, training and skills of the personnel of the QLAB and CMS

  • Process Owner for Manage Calibration with IGTS

You're the right fit if:

We are looking for an experienced manager with relevant knowledge on the various (electrical) safety tests and/or methodologies to demonstrate compliance with standards as applicable to our X-ray and MR medical systems. Someone with business acumen that can grow the QLAB's added value; and who can inspire the QLAB team to continue prioritize patient safety and quality above all else.

Specific skill requirements for this role include:

  • At least a Bachelor’s (BSc) degree in a technical field with +7 years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledgeable on relevant international, national and regional standards in the field of safety compliance testing of medical devices.

  • Knowledge and experience of safety compliance testing in testing laboratory environment, quality management systems and regulatory affairs.

  • Demonstrate experience in Audit Management

  • Relevant work experience in testing laboratories

  • Quality-conscious, accurate, loyal, reliable and representative with good organizing skills.

  • An entrepreneurial mindset to further grow the QLAB’s value creation towards patient safety and product quality.

  • Communicative in all layers of the organization, verbally and in writing, in Dutch and English.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Ability and willingness to work at least 3 days in office.
