Walmart Senior Counsel, Strategy, Risk & Operations, Outside Counsel Management in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Strategy, Risk & Operations (S&O) group is responsible for leading strategic initiatives and streamlining processes and communications across Walmart Global Governance.

As the Senior Counsel, Outside Counsel Management, you are responsible for creating and managing processes and practices to improve day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the legal teams, facilitate change, and control costs. Reporting into Lead Counsel, you will need to form strong partnerships across Global Governance, Finance, Procurement, and Global Tech functions.

You'll sweep us off our feet if:

  • You can gather input from a variety of internal and external sources to identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvements, automation, and legal spend reduction.

  • You have significant experience (1) negotiating service agreements and fee arrangements with; (2) identifying and mitigating data security risks of; and (3) managing performance of law firms and other legal service vendors, including

  • You have a strong working knowledge of-and hands-on practical experience with-processes, technology, and applications typically used in legal department settings.

  • You can bring stakeholders and partners together to align and collaborate.

  • You are agile, flexible, and able to change direction with rapidly evolving business needs.

  • You have great listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • You have an unquenchable thirst for learning and are a student of the business - constantly curious.

  • You can communicate effectively with senior leadership and have strong stakeholder management skills.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Designing, implementing, and managing a legal vendor management program using benchmarking metrics to evaluate outside counsel and legal service vendor performance against communicated expectations.

  • Assisting leadership with day-to-day legal operations , including reporting, dashboarding, budgeting, and cost reduction.

  • Identifying emerging trends and risks and partnering with leadership, technology partners, and external experts to identify legal tools and technology to deliver on strategy, automate repetitive or manual processes, and mitigate risks.

  • Identifying and developing cutting-edge strategies for increasing value and reducing outside legal spend while maintaining excellent legal representation and optimizing engagement practices with our law firms

  • Operating with excellence by presenting to all levels, delivering upon objectives, and developing yourself and others.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
