Citigroup Assistant Vice President - Relationship Associate (Business Development) - Citi Commercial Bank - Gurgaon in Bengaluru, India

The Relationship Associate is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Good communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with BDs and product partners to on-board new clients/new subsidiaries and KYC/initial credit set-ups completed

  • Builds relationships with client network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for internal requests/problem escalation and resolution

  • Helps clients to access Citi’s global network, locating local coverage and product support across the globe

  • Engages with product partners and Citi’s global network to identify revenue opportunities and to position certain products with clients

  • Ensures periodic support discussions are held with clients and are correctly documented.

  • Generates leads to onboard both borrowing and non-borrowing new clients for the bank.

  • Actively prospecting both borrowing and non-borrowing names to initially feed the BD team and then onboard independently once seasoned on Citi processes.

  • Strong relationships with law firms, CA firms and other influencers will be an added advantage.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

  • Analyze market trends and market size by integrating analytical skills and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies.

  • Partners with Credit Admin team to ensure credit documentation is kept current: FX, derivatives, Loans, LCs and other credit-related documents

  • Maintain knowledge of industry and competitive landscape.

  • Partners with Credit Admin team to monitor usage of credit lines, and partnering with Independent Risk during client Annual Reviews

  • Utilize all possible channels to identify new-to-bank clients with potential to generate business across lending, treasury, capital markets, cash management products.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years relevant experience

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
